Are you touched?? ^^ Its been 3 years since I met you! .... in INTI during orientation! Gosh...and I thought our A-level class only had the 2 of us because non of our classmates came for orientation! Only us 2 gila (crazy) people went for it!

Well, our class seems to expand...and decreased again in number. But nevertheless, we suddenly get close to each other during the second semester! Had the most pictures there! And the pictures decreased in number the following semester, exam period -.-"

Have you noticed how we've all changed in our looks overtime??
OLE trip at Alamanda

You and your beloved Mash Potato

Orang Indon (Indonesian) ?? Or orang Melayu (Malay) pakai (wear) tudung??

Trying to do some karate chop?? Usual jogging spot..in the end we played instead of jogged. Hadn't been there for ages!

Too bad I don't have a picture of you 'dutch' lady!! Nooo!!

English, a major problem in Malaysia

You have to agree with me! You must be wondering...Why is their English (grammar, spelling, vocabulary etc) so crappy! I won't say mine is perfect too. So why why why?? Maybe people of different race can't accept other language in their society?? For example, I just met a Chinese so he/she started speaking Mandarin to me! They assume that ALL Chinese can speak Mandarin (which is not true), that's why they do so? Just in case you're wondering, I can speak Mandarin.
Maybe these pictures do explain a bit...

A 'Thank You' card. Is the person trying to say 'Thank You' or 'For You'? Maybe both!

Ah! Direct translation from Mandarin!

I want a bowl of noddle pleaseeeee

They tried to sound classy but they failed. Notice the 'Logan Juice'? First time hearing such drink.

What would an European thinks when one sees this...hmm...

The best of all...
.
.
.
Try to pronounce it...kon-ver-res

So what can we do to help them? Get books for your friends during their birthday?! Attend an English improvement class? I am sure some bloggers out there have these problems too...so they blog to strengthen their English! The only way...SPEAK, READ, WRITE AND LISTEN! Do not fear! Do not raise your temper if someone correct your mistake.
Practice makes perfect!

Happy Mother's Day!

Sorry for the late post, having problems with the internet, and its still having problems. Will try to solve it tomorrow? This post is dedicated to non other than my beloved mummy! Or shall I say 'me' which my 2 naughty brothers & I call her. Its for you 'me'...please read it, if you don't want to...ask dad to read it. I hadn't seen my mum since Chinese New Year, and no, she does not know to use the computer well...slow with it. Doesn't use MSN, slow with e-mail and typing on the handphone and messages too. But its a good thing though, else there is another person hogging the computer! And we might be neglected! The next time I will see her is around the end of August! I can't wait! She's such a caring and loving mum (all mums are!). I miss your cooking...ALOT! I want a feast when I come back! Im serious! I can't give you a birthday present, nor a mother's day present....but I gave you my grades. That's what you wanted all the while right? You want us to excel in our academic performance. I really miss you, and I miss you more when people celebrate mother's day with their own mum....

Just wanna wish you...
Nicest pic of us! I am lacking pics with my mum alone, this was 1 or 2 years back! We shall take more! Guess how old is she! Post in on the comment!

An inspirational short story for any mothers out there :)...and FUTURE mothers! obtained from church bulletin, a fictional thought from anonymous author.

By the time the Lord made mothers, he was into his Sixth day of working overtime. An Angel appeared and said "Why are you spending so much time on this one?"
And the Lord answered and said, "Have you seen the special sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have 200 movable parts, all replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers, have a lap that can hold three at one time (hey its 3 of us mum!) and that disappear when she stands up, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart, and have six pairs of hands." The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. "Six pairs of hands! No way!" said the Angel. The Lord replied, "Oh it's not the hands that are the problem. It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers must have!"

"And that's just on the standard model?" The Angel asked. The Lord nodded in agreement. "Yes, one pair of eyes is to see through closed door as she asked her children what they are doing even though she already knows. Another pair in the back of her head is to see what she needs to know even though no one thinks she can. And the third pair is here in the front of her head. They are for looking at an errant child and saying she understands and loves him or her without even saying a single word." The Angel tried to stop the Lord. "This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish."

"But I can't!" The Lord protested, "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can feed a family of six on a pound of rice and get a two year old to stand in the shower." The Angel moved closer and touched the woman, "But you have made her so soft, Lord". "She is soft", Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish". "Will she be able to think?" asked the Angel. The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate." The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much on this one."

"That's not a leak." The Lord objected, "That's a tear!""What's the tear for?" the Angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride." The Angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything, for MOTHERS are truly amazing."

They have strengths that amaze men. They carry children, they carry hardships, and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up for injustice. They don't take 'no' for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without new shoes so their children can ahve them. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their lvoeed ones get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. They are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and kiss can heal a broken heaert. Mothers come in all sizes, in all colours and shaped. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a mother is what makes the world spin! Mothers do more than just give birth. They brin joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Mothers have a lot to say and a lot to give.

I wonder...

On Tuesday night, when I saw what person A wrote, I was really hurt...its like my heart was stabbed.

BUT

a thought came to my mind, it made me realize...maybe God is punishing me for what I've done to person B...about 3 years ago? Not sure if he knows its him, and am not sure if he will see this...but if he does, I am really sorry for what I've done to you. Now this thing is happening to me, but worst! And I really know how you feel though you don't show it last time...

An important quote...or better yet, a Golden Rule;
"Do onto others what you want others to do onto you"

Great experience...

4 more days till a new semester begins. Yes, I stayed back in INTI this semester break...did not go back to Brunei though my bro went back for like less than a week? -.-" crazy guy. Surprisingly...this semester break wasn't boring at all!! Thought that the week after camp will be boring but I rarely have time to myself! Wanted a movie marathon but it never happened! Haven't settle my university application >.<"

Last week before I went for camp, had supper with my sir...and he said that FAS (Faculty of Science) needed students to be 'models' to pose in the lab. Guess its for INTI's biotech program or Australia Degree Transfer Science. And so far he knows I am the only one who is going to stay back for the semester break...so I agreed. Got an e-mail from Dr.Choong, a cute lecturer (he is short XD). During my A-levels practical examination, my burette keep leaking!! So he changed it for me TWICE! That's how I remember him! And when I told him, he was surprised because he said that I look familiar to him :P

Had our photo shoot on Tuesday, my seniors and I. They came all the way from KL o.O FYI, we are NOT paid to be 'models' in this photo shoot. Its voluntary. And I think that the photographer was paid by the hour so he took his own sweet time adjusting the light here and there -.-" We were suppose to pose for 9 experiments, but we managed to pose for half of them! #$@#%@

We were suppose to pose for...
1. Students using gel doc
2. Students performing chromatography with fraction collector
3. Students looking through a microscope (its not a normal microscope, its a huge electron microscope! I WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE AN INDIVIDUAL POSE FOR THIS BUT NOT ENOUGH TIME!)
4. Student performing plant tissue culture
5. Student loading horizontal gel electrophoresis
6. Student loading vertical gel electrophoresis
7. Students counting corn phenotype
8. Students inspecting blue-white colonies under a lamp
9. Students inspecting plant tissue culture

Hmm...so we posed for the gel doc, chromatography with fraction collector, plant tissue culture and horizontal gel electrophoresis. I posed for the chromatography with fraction collector with a senior and plant tissue culture with 2 others.

this is the blue-white colony. White color isn't that visible here. Used to detect if its a recombinant DNA or a non-recombinant DNA.

This is a genetically modified corn which was dried up. You can see some purple color there too. Unique eh? Imagine counting those -.-

Ahh this is the huge horizontal gel electrophoresis that took up most of the time! A dude did it, not me :). He had to pose when he takes up the sample, and another loading it...

Plant tissue culture! This is the sample of a successfully grown plantlet. Takes a long time to grow! And this year was the first time in INTI's history that it was successful *clap clap*

Ah hah! Plant tissue culture! Once the plantlets were transferred

The chromatography with fraction collector! The thing on the right is where we put the tubes, and we can set how many drops we want per tube and it will move to the next tube once the amount is obtained. Cool thing ;) That is how we obtain the color we want

We have no idea why a green solution was obtained...it should be yellow!

This is something we have not seen before in real life (only in the notes), a vertical gel electrophoresis! The gel is actually in between the 2 layers of glass, one thicker layer and another thin fragile glass. Its not easy removing the gel. The gel is located one at each end.

Marketing office did not pay us, nor did INTI. But we had to fill in an agreement form to allow our photos to be used. So Dr.Choong said that we shall not 'model' with our formal clothes and the other lab. Its a waste of time. Hope I am able to get the photos next time :D
P.S if you do recognize me in the newspaper or any media, do let me know!! Am not sure which picture will they be using and where
.
.
.
Dr Choong took us out to Ocean Village for lunch (out from his own pocket) and a particular lady working there is RUDE!! We refilled our pot of tea twice, and we wanted another refill after our meal. She said "no hot water". WTF?! HOW CAN A RESTAURANT NOT HAVE HOT WATER? So we took our own sweet time chatting then she gave us her moody face and moody tone and asked us to pay the bill because they wanna close the store. WTH?! How can they chase away customers! They usually close at 2.30pm and its only 3pm. Geeez. Went back to help clean up the lab and talked with him for hours! @.@ Dr.Choong wanted to make us of my friend and I, so he offered to teach us something on Thursday. But sadly, my friend had fever...so he can't make it.

I did...PLANT TISSUE CULTURE!! Worked on a blue African Violet. First time doing it, and it was great!! 1 secret for a plant tissue culture to be successful...no contamination! The lamniar flow is the most important part! Went to the lab early just to set up the laminar flow. Had to clean it with 70% ethanol at both sides and the surface. Closed it, and left the UV on while I went for lunch.

That is Dr.Choong. He looks better real life than here...seriously XD. Right infront of him is the laminar flow. He worked on one, I worked on the other. Equipments are to be sterilized at ALL times! As long as it is out of the laminar flow, and before putting it into the laminar flow. Wipe them with ethanol! Had to wipe the bunser burner too! And use the Aseptic technique that involves slight burning to the equipment to kill the remaining microorganisms. Even the plastic container at each side and the cover! Hands are to be washed with ethanol before handling anything. There are certain ways to follow to transfer the plantlets in and out of the container to the petri dish! Just ensure that there is no crossing over, and do not use your dirty hands to touch the petri dish!

I did 3 samples of plant tissue culture. The plantlets are still small though, and Im suppose to cut up the big plantlets from its bottom shoot. O well ><. And they are to be put upright in the gel, which I didn't in some...

This is part of Biotechnology. Guess he wanted us to try and see how we feel about it. Well, he said it was my first time and I cut the plantlets really nicely :D. And first impression, he said I looked like a Biomed student T.T why...
Had a great experience working on this, don't be jealous! You'll get your chance someday ;P
